PERSONALITYAntisocial Alert Careful Optimistic Quiet Shy Kind

Antisocial
Silentsong doesn't really make much of an effort to get along with other cats, even those of his clan. He doesn't really relate well with others, hence his reluctance to even have much to do with them. Most of this is due to the teasing and judgmental opinions of his clanmates for his half clan heritage. He doesn't seem to mind much though, he seems to thrive in the peace and quiet he creates for himself. Also, there's another reason for his antisocial behavior. He secretly wants the approval of others, and is afraid of what would happen if he tried to gain that. His confidence in his clanmates to see him for who he is, and not just for the two colored mark on his chest is very low. He doesn't want to get hurt again, so he doesn't give anyone the chance.

Alert
Silentsong is one of the best warriors to have with you on a patrol into dangerous country. He's very alert to his surroundings, and takes notice of almost everything. It's hard for something to pass under his watchful gaze. This also applies to the lives of his clanmates, though he never shares his store of information with anyone. He likes to keep it to himself, mostly because he wouldn't want anyone to get hurt by what he can come to know. Observing is his greatest skill, and he greatly enjoys employing it. It's also part of who he is in that he uses it to avoid questions from his clanmates, and further his antisocial behavior.

Careful
Silentsong is very cautious of where he puts his paws. Being the brunt of a lot of cruel jokes most of his life has taught him to be very careful of what he choses to do, and when he chooses to do it. Though most of his suffering ended when the other apprentices became warriors, Silentsong hasn't forgotten the lessons that they taught him. His tendancy to look and study, and weigh options before he leaps has permiated his entire life and everything he does.

Optimistic
Silentsong always sees the best in every situation, refusing to look at the world as if it was going to jump out and eat him like his father believes it will. He refuses to let his views of things be changed by his situation, and has clung to the idea that things will get better and they could always be worse. It has been what has sustained him through the depression that comes with his self imposed exile from befriending his clanmates. If someone was fortunate enough to worm their way into being his friend, they would see this side of him.

Quiet
Along with being antisocial, and not wanting to attract attention to himself, which were learned behaviors, Silentsong is naturally a quiet and soft spoken tom. Even if he hadn't suffered the taunts of the other kits and apprentices, he would still be a quiet individual. His voice isn't loud, and hearing him over the top of someone else isn't really possible, so most of the time he chooses not to speak. Some cats think him mute for his lack of speach, but he isn't. He's just quiet. This also transilates into the way in which he moves about the camp, and even how he hunts and fights. Silent paws make the best hunters, and quick and quiet attacks make for a confused foe.

Shy
Yet another cause of Silentsong's antisocial behavior and quiet tendancies is the fact that he is shy. He's not sure what to think of other cats, and what they think of him. He never really grew out of not really knowing how to make friends, so that only adds to his shyness. Though if he really thought about it, his shyness is kind of a shield against those who don't know him. He's happy to let them come up with their own interpretations of who he is, if only to protect himself. The fact that they write him off and don't pay that much attention  to him only encourages him to countenue holding the shield in front of him, in his mind keeping him safe. He's afraid to let others get to know him.

Kind
Nightsong, dispite his antisocial tendancies and shy nature will not let another cat, especially from his clan, down. He hates seeing others in pain, and will do whatever he can to help them. Unfortunately, because of his odd nature, this doesn't always go over that well. It backfires rather frequently, but his infernal optimism always wins in the end and he never stops demonstrating his odd brand of kindness to those he finds in need. Though, it is not often that he will show his kindness to someone when there are others present. He doesn't like to do things in front of others, and will often wait in the background untill the cat in trouble is left alone before offering to help or trying to do so without any invitation.

HISTORY:

Silentkit -- Half clan birth

Hawlkfang was known by many as a cat who barely held onto his place in his clan. He would cross borders without permission, and get into all sorts of trouble. That was when he found the beautiful she-cat Rainwind, in her home territory of Riverclan. The handsome Shadowclan tom grew to like this pretty she-cat, and visited her very frequently till it was obvious that she was heavy with kits. Rainwind was blindly in love with the traitorous tom who had so easily stolen her young heart. She truely believed him when he said he would leave his clan to join her in hers, but as the time of their kit's birth neared, Hawlkfang became more and more distant, until he just stopped coming all together. Rainwind was torn apart by grief, but had no time to grieve as her kits were insistent on coming and seeing the world for themselves. After a hard night, Rainwind was laying beside two very beautiful kits, both baring the beautiful darker coats similar to their mother. The lighter of the two had a butterfly two toned marking on her left shoulder, and seemed to be very sweet and willing to snuggle. The other kit, a tom, had the antler marking, the bases of the two antlers at the middle of his chest, and the tines spreading to touch part of his shoulders on either side. He was also darker than his sister, and much more quiet. In fact he hadn't made a sound other than crying once since he was born. This worried the young mother, and she asked the medicine cat to take a look at him. He was deemed fine, and life carried on.

Rainwind struggled to find names for both of her precious kits, and finally settled on Poppykit for her daughter, but couldn't find a name for the little quiet tom. His mews were almost soundless, so she toyed around with the name Quietkit, but that just didn't seem to fit. Others in her clan though that he was mute so they had started to call him the silent kit, and that gave her the idea to call her son Silentkit. From then on his name stuck. Poppykit was very active from the moment she opened her eyes. Silentkit preferred to watch from the sidelines as his sister got in trouble, or as the older apprentices showed off their practice moves out in the camp outside the nursery. He learned very quickly how to  imitate them, and his infrequent tussles with his sister usually ended with him being the victor.

As he started to be able to do more on his own, he became painfully aware that he wasn't like the other kits in the nursery, nor the other cats in the clan. His marking was two colors. This didn't seem to matter to others when it concerned his sister, but when it came to him, others avoided him. His young brain started thinking about this, and he realized that he hadn't ever seen his father. When he asked his mother about this, she wouldn't answer him. He asked around and found out that his father was from Shadowclan, and started pestering his mother to take him to meet his father. Finally she gave in and took him to the border, arranging for Hawlkfang to meet them there.

Silentkit looked up at his scarred, old father and gave one mew of fright and hid behind his mother. His father looked terrifying. Hawlkfang took one look at the little tom and laughed. He offered right then and there to take the kit back to his clan and keep him out of her fur. Rainwind  looked up at Hawlkfang, torn. She wanted to make sure that her son was well cared for, but not having to care for the antisocial kit would be a blessing from Starclan its self. She wordlessly turned and picked up her son and deposited him on the other side of the border, and turned and walked away, tail straight up in the air. Silentkit looked up with big eyes at his father, suddenly afraid.

Hawlkfang deposited his son in the nursery and went about his life, only stopping by the nursery to make sure his son ate something in the past couple days. He didn't care much for the kit, like he hadn't cared much for his other two sons, but he didn't want to sign the kit to dying at the start of his life. Cutting the little one's life short wasn't ever his intention.

Silentkit's quiet and antisocial behavior only increased as his time with the Shadowclan went on. He was tormented by many of the other kits, but when he didn't give a reaction, they pretty much left him alone. The prospect of becoming an apprentice really interested Silentkit. He had learned a lot of how to fight from his time watching others from the nursery, and he couldn't wait to learn how to actually use that knowledge.

Silentpaw -- Quiet but deadly

When Silentkit became Silentpaw, he was infinitely proud of himself. This happened shortly after his father was found dead, killed by a fox or a dog, but the young apprentice had no grief for his fallen parent. The old scarred tom was a source of a lot of fear for the young apprentice, and so he had no tears for the old sad cat. Clayleap was named Silentpaw's mentor, and the older she-cat was very patient with the quiet young tom. The two of them quickly had a bond of trust between them, so much so that when Clayleap realized how much the young apprentice already knew, she began teaching him the more advanced movements, and holding him to a higher standard than what one might expect from an apprentice of his age. Silentpaw thrived under her teaching, so much so that she was forced to invent more and more different tasks for him to complete.

His hunting skills rose quickly, and he was soon bringing in prey for the elders on a regular basis. He enjoyed clearing out their den, and listening to their stories, though he never really showed it. He didn't even really show his appreciation and friendship for Clayleap. He didn't know how, and wasn't really all that keen to learn. Relationships were always hard for Silentpaw, and he devoted all the energy he could to anything other than reaching out to other cats. Clayleap gently pushed him in that direction tirelessly though, and he made bumbling advancements. He managed to scratch his way through the situations that he was put into.

As his training progressed, Silentpaw started to show a lot of promise in the art of moving without being seen, furthering his association with his name. He also continued to excel in his hunting, gaining skills quickly, especially since he doesn't really have much of a social life. His general fighting skills were above the standard that they should be at all stages of his training, due to his observation and copying skills. Silentpaw started to hone his abilities to not be seen or heard by any of his clan mates, becoming even more sneaky than most Shadowclanners.

Silentpaw was wandering along the border, hunting, and he ran across some Thunderclan apprentices that were sneaking over the border. Unwilling to attack three apprentices on his own and face certain defeat, he stalked them, watching as they killed a bird and began to feast. They were boasting about getting over the border without getting caught, and Silentpaw pinned back his ears in anger. He couldn't attack them, but he might be able to pick them off one by one. Unknown to him Clayleap and another warrior were watching him to see what he would do. As Silentpaw was contemplating his options, a lark started singing in a nearby tree offering a welcome distraction. One of the apprentices who had just finished feasting on the bird bounded away to find the bird. Silentpaw padded along through the shadows, moving with the wind, following the intruder who was finally alone. Once the Thunderclanner was off by himself, Silentpaw attacked silently and swiftly, effectively rendering the apprentice terrified. As the scared tom streaked back to his own territory, Silentpaw dealt with the followers, using the lark's song as a very good distraction. Afterward, Silentpaw finished hunting for the elders and never mentioned the events that had happened that afternoon. Clayleap, however, never forgot, and when asked what she though the young tom's warrior name should be, the only name she could think of was Silentsong. The half clan young tom had gained a lot of respect in her eyes that day.

Silentsong – Honor of Silence

Silentsong's warrior vigil was a uneventful one. He had no problem staying up and considering his future. The following day he wordlessly did what he was told, and was very happy to have ended up in the warriors den. He didn't think of his father, or his barely remembered mother, but thought of Clayleap and how he wanted to make her proud. He continued to keep to his antisocial behavior, not really associating with other members of his clan all that much, but was a little more open to others than he had been in the past.

It has been less than a moon since he was named a Warrior. Silentsong doesn't know what the future will hold, but he believes that he should be able to serve the clan well, in the best way he can. From the shadows, and the outer fringes of the clan. Where no one can hurt him.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE: Silentsong padded into the middle of the clearing with that day's catch. He enjoyed hunting on his own, and always felt pride when he was able to come back to the clan with a bird or mouse or even squirrel to feed his clanmates. Sighing, he set the freshkill down in the ever changing pile and went to find a place in the sun to wash himself and wait for his orders for the afternoon. He was happy not to be the one trying to figure out what others were going to do when. It afforded him a measure of privacy and freedom, and it let him choose his path, and what he wanted to do. It also let him stay further away from the other cats when he was feeling particularly shy or threatened. He finished washing his face, and turned to his chest, unwilling to get matted fur. He was entirely absorbed in his actions that he didn't notice another cat's approach.
